To all,

My heart is so heavy today, my mind so full of memories of Mary. I'll miss her more than I can say. Her contribution to my life is immeasurable -- she is the catalyst for JFK Lancer and all that it has accomplished. Our mission is based on the example set by Mrs. Ferrell, to make the assassination research material available to anyone and everyone. Mrs. Ferrell was a big part of JFK Lancer, from her participation at our annual "November In Dallas" Conference where she hosted both the Ladies' Luncheon and the Award Banquet, to her participation in the selection of speakers, and much inbetween. Her counsel was crucial during the time of the Assassination Records Review Board and her input on the purchasing of documents for distribution indespensible.

In 1996, we established the JFK Lancer Pioneer Award which states, "In appreciation for your lifetime of searching for the truth in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy" The first awards went to:

Mary and Buck Ferrell
Elaine and Penn Jones
Lillian and Harold Weisberg
This award was thereafter called the JFK Lancer-Mary Ferrell Pioneer Awards. Past winners are:

Peter Dale
Scott, 1997
George Michael Evica, 1997
Gaeton Fonzi, 1998
David Lifton, 1998
Stewart Galanor, 1999
Hal Verb, 1999
Jerry Rose, 2000
Josiah Thompson, 2002
Dick Russell, 2003
Other JFK assassination researcher awards given by Mrs. Ferrell can be viewed at the November In Dallas website: http://www.jfklancer.com/Dallas.html. These awards will continue to be given out annually in her name.

In 1997, JFK Lancer instituted the JFK Lancer-Mary Ferrell Scholarship Award. Mary donated her database and chronology to JFK Lancer and it was determined that all sales of the resulting CDRom "Mary Ferrell Legacy Project" would fund the scholarship of $500 cash for a teacher and $500 for a student each year. The winners also received research materials worth hundreds more dollars donated by Tom Jones of JFK Lancer Resource, JFK Lancer, and LMP Systems.
